CHILDREN'S CLASSES
Art AcademyEnlightenment and joy for children of all ages!
Children are the artists of the future. We welcome young people and provide an environment where they can explore their creativity, make a mess and learn to develop the visions they hold within. Classes are held regularly and we offer first rate exhibitions for our students' work. Students are introduced to many different kinds of mediums, from acrylic paint and pencils to charcoal, watercolour, clay, wood, and more. They are also taught to apply different techniques to their work to improve their knowledge of classical and modern ways of painting, drawing and sculpting. We also provide a broad education of art history and theory, which is the basis for all of our art knowledge. Our students are always amazed at how much they can accomplish and improve when they look at the work they did before coming to art class, and the art they produce for our Academy art shows. They also regularly impress visitors with their depth of understanding of historical art movements and pieces. Children's classes for ages 7-15 are on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Each session is one month long, for 2 hours per week. Price per month includes teacher fees, materials and tax $160.00 Call for more information (226) 790-1714 |

"My daughter just loves your art Classes! Thank you so much for being you . Your a bright and wonderfully amazing woman that brings the BEST out in her students." |
"When I come to class, I feel really free. I feel like I can just be myself and not worry what anybody thinks of me... I realized everybody has their own way of being who they are and that's okay. I'm just happy being me in art class."
- Student in Wednesday class
"I feel safe here, you know? I'm not gonna be made fun of if I do something wrong or weird or make a mess. We laugh about it, and Alicia just turns it into something we can learn from." "My biggest thing in school is that I'm really quiet, even my teachers sometimes forget about me. When I go to class (at the Gallery) I'm a totally different person. I make jokes all the time and doodle while I'm painting, and everybody says I'm really funny and outgoing. I'm shy at school but I feel way less shy in art class." |

Painting
a poem by our student Allie (11 yrs)
Painting is the beautiful, unique seashells that wash up on the shore.
Anyone can have them, and everyone can enjoy them
Painting is a golden field of wheat blowing in the wind.
They are easy to find, but all have their own different beauty
Painting is a brand new space shuttle floating in outer space.
It will show you the stars and take you to other worlds waiting to be discovered
Painting is the rainbow that appears after a thunderstorm.
Something boring and hash turns into a phenomenal masterpiece.
Painting is the worn out blanket you snuggle with every night.
It is comforting and reminds you of the old happy memories that will never slip away.
